josh's time
im calling to make an appointment to have my pet rat josh put down. he is too old, i went to pet him today and he cried, he also has two or three open sores on his back. i figure the only human thing to do is to have him put down, im going to ask the doctor when we get there to see if he can be helped, but he is six years old, or near six. this is a hard decision that is a last resort for me.

Wow at 6 years you've really done great for him! I know how hard a decision it is. I had to make it just last night. My prayers are with you.

thanks all. me and my cousin talked with the vet and he said that he is probably holding on with the last string, so we decided to put him down because the doctor said he was probably in pain, he had cancer and it was taking him fast. my mom just broke into tears when the doctor brought josh out in a blanket to say goodbye, me and my cousin were the only ones not crying, although i sure wanted to, i had to fight them back for hours after, and still do a little bit right now. it was just so sad. We are going to get a picture of him and blow it up so we can frame it and put it where his cage was as a memorial. we are going to get his body tomorrow so we can bury it in our backyard

I'm sorry for your loss . It sounds like he had a great life...six years is really old for a rat.

RIP Josh. Sorry about your loss. I'm sure he was a happy rat to have lived so long.
