Lost One Last Night
Well, we're a little sad. We got home last night and our little runtiest baby wasn't in the nest anymore (I do a once daily count.) I looked everywhere and dug in the nest and bedding to make sure he hadn't just become misplaced, but he was gone. We're watching to make sure we don't lose anymore, but at this point Genie has been taking pretty good care of the others, and the one that's gone is the one that wasn't growing like the others so I assume he was probably dead before she ate him. It is sad though, we're down to ten. I did take baby picks, but I forgot to bring the camera with me to work so I'll get them posted as soon as I can. They're cute they're really getting big and you can see some patterning on their skin now.

Yeah it's sad. I hate it. I just hope we don't have any more loss. I'm watching them quite closely. Really though, she's a first time mother and 11 is a pretty big litter, if we end up with 10 growing healthy ones when all is said and done I think I'll definitely count it as a success!

Oh my yes, she's eating mazuri rat blocks, puppy milk bones, and the occasional canned dog food or KMR, plus all the fresh and dried fruit that I give all of them for treats. I've never seen an animal eat so much in my life! She's drinking constantly too. I'm literally refilling her water bottle and food bowl twice a day! I guess delivering and nursing ten babies really would take it out of you though.
