Minnie the House Mouse

Last week we came home from the store to find a young female mouse stuck in our sink, she couldn't get out and kept slidding down. I was able to put a cup over her and get her into one of those plastic carrying cases. We went to the petstore and got a plastic carrying case that has a hole on the top for where her water bottle would go. I plan to buy her something better this week that has a wheel. She lets clean her bedding out when it gets wet from her water bottle, and I sense she realizes I am taking care of her and not causing her harm, so I think she is adapting to me. My question is can I go to the petstore and buy her a female house mouse to live with or will they fight? Thnx

I believe they would fight. I don't think domestic animals and wild animals will get along fine

Thanks for the info Christine. I have been finding different info online and didn't know what to believe, and I know you all know a tun about rodents. I just worry about her being lonely being by herself.

I have never researched mice so don't hold my info as "the truth" but when I talked about homing a wild rabbit with a domestic rabbit the other person that the wild rabbit could transmit diseases that they are immune to to the domestic rabbit. I would believe the same would be true about mice.

For once thing I would let the wild mouse go.You shouldn't keep the wild mouse as a pet.Let her go.If you really want to keep mice, then go to the pet store and buy a pair of fancy mice.

Also no,do not buy a domestic mouse and put it with the wild one.For one thing they could fight and for another the wild mouse may (most likely) is carrying something that can be transmitted to the domestic mouse and make it sick.

I agree with Lisa...let the mouse go. There's no reason to keep her and she could transfer diseases to other rodents...or even you.

And no, I would not put her with a domestic mouse. They are different species.
