There are ants all over my desk, so I had to move the mice into a temporary cage. So when I was cleaning...I took some pics..

Fluff is bad for baby rodents bc they can get their paws and legs twisted in the fluff, I have had that happen once to one of my babies when I first had mice, so I no longer use fluff when I have a litter....however, when the mice grow up I have no problems with their paws getting tangled in the stuff, and they love sleeping and building nests in it (especially my rats!)...its so soft...

..and they have really improved on their softness...it feels like silk cotton now..

In the last picture, she is eating an algae waffer...my oldest mouse did that once...and just helped himself from the bag...so I thought, since they like it, I will offer it as a treat every once in awhile...they are highly nutritous and loaded with vitamins..has anyone else tried that before?

yeah, I dont have a temporary extra cage, so I placed a piece of heavy wood over the opening of the top floor, and then I placed that clear plastic container over it (you can see it in the first three pics, the container has blue fluff)...when I first did it, I was scared that the hamster would chew through it and get to my mice...so I would nervoulsy keep checking their set up...so far its been 2wks and I have replaced the wood with some fresh one and the mice are ok, as soon as I can get that ant problem solved I will put my mice back on my desk. The problem is that the ants are comming from the outside through my window and climbing on top to the desk....its an ongoing battle...

....has anyone else had a similar problem??

Yup... living in a tropical island, I have ants and other insects all year long. 8P

There's a insectiside that comes in a paste form. I put a bit of it right where they are coming in, and keep replacing it when they take it away, and after a couple of days, there are no ants. Be careful that none of your pets get to the paste, though!!!

i heard the wont cross vaseline so you could put some in your window maybe? but its a bit of a mess to clean up and also, if it go on the mice somehow.. that prolly wouldnt be good.
theres other things there not supposed to cross over, like chalk or babypowder. i dunno what all would be ok to use by ur pets tho. if all else fails you can go outside and look for the nest and pour boiling water on it.. but i think you have to use like 3 gallons of boiling water.. and you have to do it alot.

The nest is right outside my window, they have made a home through the cracks! I have tried sealing the window with tape, but i think they have made a route between the wood..I have been using baiting stations...and they are not having an effect
