moving with rats? any advice?

i live in the channel islands and i'm planning to move over to the UK, more specifically scotland, at some point in the near future. this wouldn't really be a problem if i didn't have rats and a hamster.

i think i'll have to take a boat somewhere and drive the rest of the way.

how do you guys think the rodents will take it? and is there any advice for keeping them nice and calm and/or not scared to death on the way?

They are going to be stressed anyway.
But to minimize it,you can cover the carrier with a sheet,to keep the light out.Just check on them frequently and make sure they have food,water and are not over-heating or too cold.
