Smile My rat is getting a new cage!

Well... my rat doesnt get along with other rats Ive found out ... Hes been alone fortoo long and its far too territorial. Anyways, my decided that the cage I had for him was much too small (however I dont think it was ... it was 18x24x18) But my dad thought that the cage was too small for my rat scabbers, so he insisted that I get a new one for him... So I wanted to know what people think I should put in this new cage, currently he has a hammock, a ferrettrail tube, and a wheel. But Im completly lost of what I should get him for toys etc, please help me out!!!

Here is the ferret trail thing

and here is Scabbers' new cage! It measures a whopping 18x24x36 inches!

2 Degus -Bob & Mephisto
2 Hamsters - Sabi & Marshmellow

nice cage! that's EXACTLY the one i have that i found on freecycle. it's a GREAT cage for sure, very roomy. i made leap n' ledges with wood, a screw and a washer. in one corner i stuck sticks across in the corner like a ladder, they like to climb under the bottom of it and go up the inside lol.

Nice cage!
You can add all kinds of things, like ladders and hammocks and bells (my rats always seem to like bird toys with bells and tend to ring them to get my attention)...etc.

Cage looks nice and roomy! Have you considered trying to have Scabbers neutered? That often works well for hormonal males who can't be kept with other rats otherwise.

Toy ideas!: Hammocks, ropes (parrot section often has twisty rope perch thingies!) jingle balls (small animal/ferret/cat), tissue boxes, paper towel/toilet paper rolls, Ferret Roll-About Ball, baby teething links, Igloo (Super Pet), Chewbular Play Tubes, parrot toys, ladders, extra shelves (A Super Pet Corner Look-Out for instance).

No place around here is willing to neuter him, so thats out of the question... And I dont want to send him to a place that has never delt with a rat before, I would hate for something to go wrong. I thought that he would even like a female (not wanting to breed) but I brought my friends female rat over and he simply attacked her and I had to seperate them because he made her bleed (I felt so bad ).
I love those ideas though! I know he loves hammocks, I wonder though if there is a place to get a ratty couch, lol. I swear my rat thinks hes human sometimes, he loves to sit and watch tv and movies. I have an oversized converter which is only a little longer than he is (his body is a little over a foot long!) and he changes the channels every ones and a while after watching a show, its quite cute.
Do you think ferret things are fine for him? I saw a fleeze ferret corner treat holder where they just stick their head in to get a treat, would this be okay for Scabbers?

Are you sure? I have some recommended rat vet lists that you can look at and see if any are near you:
Pet Info Packets :: Rats :: Health

And more info on fixing rats: Pet Info Packets :: Rats :: Health

Please, please do not introduce your rat to a female rat like that (or any really). For one if that rat was sick it could have been passed to yours, for two if not done properly the introduction could go badly (as it did), for three if he took the wrong kind of interest in her it takes literally seconds for rats to mate successfully.

Ferret things should be fine and often work great as rat toys
