nest building

I've learnt that the size of nest a mouse builds is genetically determined and is influenced by temperature. At 5 degrees C the difference in nest size is much greater than when they are kept at 26 degrees C. It makes sense that a larger nest in colder weather will have greater reproductive success. Because of this, it means that the large-nest-building gene continues to the next generation of the population.

What do you make of this. Do you think its true or have you witnessed this yourself?

When my mouse was pregnant, she built a nest that was half her sterlite bin.

When she was by herself in her cage, I wouldn't even give her a house, she would make a nest big enough to hide in.
