New mouse.

Hi everyone. I am new to this site. I have had a mouse for about 5 days. He is a baby mouse, no more than 10 weeks old. He is very shy but he is coming along nicely. He is now climbing in my hand and I can almost cup my palm around him.

He gets very scared at some point and poops out of nowhere. Will that stop as he becomes more trusting and realizes that I will not hurt him?

Does anybody have any advice for me on how to make this lovely little critter at home? Thank you!

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the mouse.

Many mice,even when tame will still poop on hands,clothes and out of their cages.Some don't...but I find with mice,many will.Keep working with him,he will be really friendly and tame in no time!!

hi and welcome!! i love mice, i used to have a girl. when you have him out, give him a treat like a seed or nut or piece of bread. and when he poos, put him back in the cage right away and put his poos him the cage beside him. i found my girl caught on. also mice are so tiny, and so are their bladders, i found having them out for no more than 20-30 minutes helped keep the poo prizes to a minimum
