oops.
I did a bad thing today. I came home with a mouse.
I had sworn myself off of rodents, because as much as I love them, my mom hates them, and since I still live at home, I try to respect her, within reason, lol.
But today, I was at work, and I guess someone had brought in a mouse that they didn't want anymore. Well, the store put HIM in with the female mice (normally when someone surrenders a pet, they set up a cage in the front of the store and try to adopt it out, NEVER put them in with their own stock! this store was weird.) Anyways, this guy is huge, almost as big as a small rat. I noticed him when one of the employees brought another one over to show her the "Godzilla mouse". They pointed out that it was a boy, and didn't belong with the girls, and said he was free, so I said I'd take him.
I named him Hank. He's pretty sweet. He hates being picked up, but is totally calm once he's in my hand. His tail is kind of crooked, and he's got some healing cuts on him, most likely from fighting with another boy. I'd like to see the size of the mouse that dared to pick on this guy!
I'll get pics up within the week.

Hank is getting better with being held. He's a pretty mellow mouse, I can let him run around on the bed almost as if he were a rat, I just have to look out for him peeing, thats not fun. I just brought home a new cage for him. Its smaller than I would have liked, but all of the bigger cages had the bars spaced farther apart, or had some areas with big gaps in the bars. I was going to make him a cage, but Target no longer carries the mesh grids I was looking for, and this cage ended up being more cost effective than anything else. I saw one cage that was almost perfect, it had two levels, but the levels were connected by one of those plastic tubes, which I will never use again, they are too hard to clean. I think he's pretty happy in the cage I got, though.
