Pictures Of My Old Rat Raven - RIP July 19, 2005
These are pictures of my first rat. Her name was Raven. She was my little apprentice. I'd call her Rave. She was just like a puppy. I could let her run around the house and all I would have to do was call her and she'd come running to me. She was very territorial of me. If she was sitting on me or my shoulder and you went to touch me or her she would try to bite you.
She developed a large tumor under her leg and several small ones under her arms. I brought her to the vet and he said there was nothing he could do and it would be best to put her down. He said she should be put down when she appears to be in discomfort or pain. A few months later I brought her back to be put down. It broke my heart to take her there, knowing she would be put to sleep. It still breaks my heart. I loved her so much. She was my best friend, my little pocket apprentice. Sometimes when I look at Juliet I am reminded of Raven. It makes me sad and I will admit, I often do mourn her again.
These are the only pictures I have of her. I cherish them.

When I first got her, her coat was pure black with a blackish brown square on her back. Almost like a cape. But for some reason she started turning auburn. When I had her I used to have auburn hair. I always found that funny. Her baby fur must have just grown out. |

Sorry. It wouldn't let me post them in the first one so I had to make a second post.
I got her from Petco in Holyoke MA I think. I waited over a half a year for her. Every Wednesday (when they'd get their shipment of small animals in) I'd call and ask if they had any black baby female rats. When they finally said yes I rushed out to get her. She was such a sweetie.

She was a very beautiful rat.R.I.P Raven!!
Alot of black rats actually start turning a rusty color like that when they age! My Zephyr is black,but looks rusty-ish brown-ish almost now.He is over 1 yr.

That's cool. I did not know that. I just thought she was molting (lol) or something.
She had a white heart on her stomach/chest. I forgot the add that. Juliet had a white almost rat shapped patch on her chest/stomach.

she was very pretty, my rat bear(RIP) was a black mis marked and he turned brown too.

Beautiful rat! Black rats and black hooded rats are among my favorite breed of rat too, I love their black faces along with the black eyes. Works well I think. |

I remember having to put my beloved rat down , I was 12. I know how hard it is. I had the whole vets office crying.
You did the right thing though, and she knew she was loved and adored. You took great care of her, and she lived a great life.
