Rats


i used to have rats and i had an allergic reaction to them but my mom bought cedar wood chips when i got them(like 3 years ago) and i kept telling her it was the wood chips and she said i dont care she said there poops are big and i said there the same as a guinea pig and rats were by far my favorite pet they were so friendly can anyone tell me what to say to my mom

Well I think the most important concern before you worry about trying to talk to your mom would be finding out if you really are allergic to them. See if you can find a petstore that doesn't keep them on cedar and handle those, then you'll know if you react to them or not. By the way no small animal should ever be kept on cedar.

You might be allergic to the rats.Some people are allergic to the rat skin and/or dandruff.I also know people allergic to the "buck grease" that males produce.


So I agree with Luvboyrats...see about checking rats out in the pet store or a breeder,handle them and see if you break out.Then after that,you can convince your mom that rats are not bad pets.


Pine and cedar is bad for rats,just to let you know.
