Red nosed
I was letting my rats out for some (illegal `_`) free range, and Spirit has red on his nose! I don't know what the cause is, if he's stressed or anything, or maybe he rubbed it sore on a bar. Any suggetions? I'll put a pic so you guys can see..
I don't know what the cause of stress would be..

Nope, no sneezingm but he does have a habit of chewing the bars..I don't know if he's rubbing his nose against the bars when he does it, he hides behind his wheel so I don't tell him to stop 8D

You mentioned he chews on the bars? Well my rat, Raymond used to chew on the bars before I got him apprently and now his teeth are deformed and need trimming every few weeks,I was told that this is because he chewed on the bars.
My gerb went through a period where she chewed the bars and rubben all of the fur off of her nose and cheeks.I think this may be a boredom thing, so provide your ratty with lots of stuff to do or pre-occupy him from chewing.

Ah, he doesn't do it too often, I think he does it when I don't pay enough attention to him, because he looks right at me when doing it ^^

Does he clean his face alot?
It looks like porphyrin around his nose on the fur. I know rats with light colored fur have that problem where they'll get stained when they clean alot. It happens to my PEW. Her neck gets cleaned alot by my other rats and she'll get this rusty color on her fur. It comes off during a bath.

This is possible, all though currently, he doesn't have the red on him right now, but this isn't the first time this has happened.
Ah well, if it's nothing to worry about, it's nothing to worry about =3

And you know, I completley missd this post =3 I'll check it out.
Alright, the only signs that he has is rough fur and the red nose, but I attribute his fur to his being male, and getting rid of that juvenile softness.
Maybe Luci just stresses him out sometimes, I could certainly see why ^^

Yeah, my siamese ~Jellyroll~ has a stained head. His head has abit of red stains from when he was a little stressed when I had my foster dog and had abit of porphyrin on his nose and somehow it got onto his head! He isn't stressed now, but is stained and I eventually need to give him a bath.My bad, that he hasn't had a bath yet!

I have noticed that my rat, Skrat, also gets this problem, although it seems to happen when she seems stressed or eats a food that gives her the runs.

Well, I was observing this, and I think it IS Luci who stresses him out from time to time, but it quickly goes away.
You'd be stressed to if you had an annoying kid in your room, who just doesn't quit XD

My dumbo rats...I should say sooky babies...have both been stressed latley, as I been taking the babies out more then them as I am taming the babies. They are tame now, but I cannot resist taking them out so much! Anyway my dumbos,Zephyr and Jellyroll get out alot too, same with Sprite and Raymond...they all get out alot, it just seems the dumbos are jealous, as they are the only ones appearing stressed.
