Rex baby from normal mom?

Today we got a lactating mother for our orphaned rat. We also bought her three babys with her (I think they are about 2 weeks, eyes are open, but keep them kinda squinted alot.) Mom is a normal, maybe dumbo, im not quite sure what is considered a dumbo, but she has got HUGE ears! One baby is a hooded, one is a "self" (I believe its called) and the other is a berkshire. The Berkshire has curly hair and Whiskers! I didnt even think that was possible from a normal mom. Where they were before i got them, was ... well bad conditions .. it looked like the cage hadnt been cleaned in forever and all the babys and the mom were COVERED in pee, i mean like soaked! The Hooded was yellow where she should have been white! There was hardly any light where they were so i was picking them out of the thing and they looked either black, or somewhat brown. I get home into some light and i think "Ok theyre black" (except the white on two of them), I wash them in plain water for a lil bit keeping a close eye on them, and keeping there ears outta water (after i mixed the smell into the baby that im trying to get the mom to take). Then put them back in with their mother. We went to get different bedding for them (aspin) and came home to RED babys! Well Redish brown. And one curly-ish haired one! So my questions are #1 is it possible to get a rex from a normal (or dumbo) mom? (NO clue what the father is) #2 Is she a Dumbo or Normal? (see below for pictures) and #3 What color is that called? Thanks everyone! Hope you like!

Mommy!
Not a great picture, and she looks very miserable, but you can kinda see the size her of ears! (Under no circumstances does she want her photo taken it seems)

Hooded

Self

BerkShire (who we believe is a rex)
You can kinda see how fluffy her coat is, could get a good picture of it, but you can see its not smooth. I thought it was the way her fur dried or something, so i gave her another quick dip, and its still like that. So im not sure.

Awww! What cuties!!!!

Yep,that baby is a rex!! And he is agouti.Mom is agouti too and yes,she is a dumbo.Actually they all look agouti now that I look again.I adore rexes and dumbos, all but one of my rats is dumbo.

It is possible for a rex baby to be born from a normal mom.She could very well carry the rex gene and the father could of been rex or carrying the gene, since you said you never seen the daddy.

YUP that's definitley a rex!! i got my petey when he was about 6 weeks old, he's a rex as well, came from 'normal' roots also. it can happen, in the wild world of gene pools, but isn't it just sooooo adorable!!!

Yes she is cute! And btw I finaly got some luck coming my way! They are ALL girls!! So they can all stay together!! Assuming they all get along in the long run. Ive had enough experience sexing mice to know the difference and these are deffinatly female!
Also the rex is actualy the self, and the other is the Berkshire (got mixed up b4) and those two have names! The Smooth haired one is Fae, after one of the original mice we were trying to save and the Rex is Lbby, After the Rat pup we just lost. Im letting my boyfriend Name Moma and the hooded, We lost Lucky early this morning. Lucky was his baby so he is really upset about it. And if have seen my other post. The Grey Hooded is now named Luna!

You only need one rex parent to get some rex babies, if both parents had been rex then you might have ended up with some double rex rats (mock hairless).

For some reason I can't see the pics but I will assume that with the emphatic responses you have agouti's and an agouti dumbo mom. Congrats!!
