All I know is that rats do sneeze once in a while, but if they are sneezing more than usual, you should maybe bring them to a vet. Other than that, I don't know.

Sorry. I hope you get more of an answer than that.

It could be and sounds like the start of an RI (respitory infection). They will need antibiotics if thats what it is.

Baytril is only about $15 here and for 4 rats I have paid as little as $20 for a course of antibiotics. It really is not too expensive for antibiotics. My current boys have been on two rounds of antibiotics and are now doing really well,no sneezing or anything!

Call up vets in your area and ask prices.

In the meantime you can let the shower run on hot and put the rats in the bathroom for a few minutes (10-15).This will clear them up for a little bit.But if it is an RI,they will eventually need some meds or it will just get worse.

cool, a homemade sauna. i've never thought of that. that's a good idea. what about putting some vaporizer rub out of reach so the rat can smell it. is that a good idea? i read that once on hamsteriffic.

I wouldn't use vaporizer rub because rats lungs are very sensitive and heavy smelling perfumes and what not can just irritate them more. A vaporizer with just some water in it would probably help also.

Well I took her out this morning about 40m ago and she has not sneezed yet! I am really hoping for the best. She did sneeze before and it just went away on its own so I am hoping that she has really sensitive lungs or something like to dust maybe. Thanks everyone for the help! I am still open to ideas tho. Thanks Vanilla_Rat I will try what you said if she starts again. Does anyone think it could be the cold giving her a cold? My house does get very cold at night.

hi i used to have rats but now mice, one of my boys however started to diplay similar symtoms with sneezing and the squeeking, what i found though that it was an allergic reaction to a change in the cage, is there anything different in its environment or surrounding the cage? Just a thought

Is there any sign of "bloody tears" or a bloody-colored discharge coming out of your rat's nose?
