Several species of spiny mice exist. The Egyptian spiny mouse (Acomys cahirinus) is the species most often kept as a pet. The information here refers specifically to them. Other species of spiny mice are found in central and southern Africa, India, Asia and the Western hemisphere.

The article you attached in your post was very helpful ... Do you have spiny mice as pets? If you do, it would be nice to see a photo of them ... I have two lovely spinies and will try to find the products you recommend here in Florida ... because mainly i have been getting their seeds/oats/etc. from the health food store ... they seem to really also like cooked pasta, too .. I wonder if you think this should not be given to them, but my mice seem to really enjoy it.
