Think its time for the vet!

Well toto's weird breathing has got worse hes doing it alot more.
Im stuck on weither to take him to the vets because they havn't been outside before and they are stressed very EASY--> (example:The new kittens).
I know what the right thing is to do but what if it makes toto worse?
GAAAAA being a first time rattie owner is not EASY!

Hes eating drinking running around playing and everything normal! and there is no other problems just this weird breathing!

Yes, going to the vet will be stressful. You will feel terrible when you see how much he hates it. But it's for his own good. We all have to do stuff we don't enjoy, like getting shots or visiting the dentist. He'll forget all about it after he's back home for a little while.

Put a towel or blanket over his cage. That usually helps calm them down. I did that with my hamster when I had to move. It was a 1hr trip down the highway and she did all right. Is there a closet or something that would be quiet and dark you could put him in?
You could also try calling ahead to the vet to see what s/he thinks. Maybe you could also arrange an appointment so you would be seen promptly. You can also do the towel thing over the cage when you take him in.

edit: do make sure he can still get plenty of air. I never had any problems doing this, but you want to make sure you don't put the towel/blanket too snug that the air can't circulate. I used to put a little check box on top of the cage and then use shoes or w/e else against the cage to push the towel out.

Awwe, hope he feels better. Just think of the vet trip as being no different as when you brought him home. He did o.k. when you brought him home, he will be o.k. for a trip to the vet and back. Best wishes with the little guy.

Took him to the vet and all went well!
The vet is amazing he totally new what he was talking about, he understood how worried i was and he new how to handle my babies.
He gave me a antibiotic to put in their water for 5days and if nothing improves i have to give him a ring.
He was brilliant!!

He said my boys where really healthy otherwise the RI he says i just caught it in time because things could of got worse for both.

He also said my boys where well looked after and clean so i was really happy!!

That's great news! It's great you had such a good experience with their first time at the vet.
