Three Mice Died In Three Hours

I woke up this morning and did my daily routine.... fed mice, changed water, etc. All four mice were acting normal and fine. Then about three hours later I got home from work and THREE of my mice were dead. The fourth seems to be going through very violent seizures, flipping over repeatedly, and having neurological problems.

I use the Carefresh brand of shavings and had just recently cleaned the cage, however I didn't disinfect anything... just a good spray down with water.

Any information on what it could be that killed them so fast would be wonderful.

Thanks in advance.

Wow, I'm so sorry that happened to you! *hugs* I don't think we have any way of really being able to find why they died, and the fourth is sick. You should really take the fourth into a vet now, please. Seizures are hard on little mouse bodies. If the vet knows what's wrong with your mousie, ask if it's likely the other three had it too. Some vets also offer payment plans. AND.....if you have another cage, put mousie in it and disinfect that cage! lol Even I think psshhh two weeks, you're totally safe. But nature can be full of surprises!

I agree for all four of them to go that quickly there must have been some sort of toxin. Are you sure they haven't gotten into anything?
