tonka has gone!
i don't no if it was a seizure or a heart attack that killed him i was holding him as i found him wobbling about his cage a feed time he climbed on my hand the first time he has ever done this too he normally thinks it's fun to run around his cage then come to me, he was cold and was finding it hard to breathe so i bought him into the house and he was just lying there on his side and walking wobbly on my hand for about a hour i knew he was going to die, but i didn't expect the end to be soo painful to watch she just started kicking in pain then totally stopped he had gone. The dogs knew there was something wrong as they usually come over and kiss my mice or rabbits when i bring them into the house but not last night. (9th april)
I buried Tonka near where i buried Lucas this morning, mattie did never get to meet his dad.

so sorry.
my rat Inky did the jerking a bit when she died. A friend lost her Mr. Ratburn too. He also did the jerking. It may well be 'death throes' sort of like the nerves loosing the impulses.
I'm sorry for your loss. It is painful to watch. But you helped your baby pass.

The kicking in pain is actually not painful (except for us to watch)...its seizures as the body dies (last nerve impulses as redsweettart said). They don't feel a thing.
Tonka looked like a sweet boy. RIP little guy.
