ugh... mites..

so about a month ago, my mice were really itchy. i noticed weird specks around their eyes, so I thought they had mites. i went to the pet store and bought some rodent flea and tick spray and used it on them. i would have taken them to the vet, but i didn't have any money and there's no way my parents would have paid for that...

anyway, i think they have the mites again because they are starting to itch and i see the little specks again.

so what can i do to keep the mites away? and how much does it usually cost to take your mice/rats to the vet? like just to check them out.

The vets around here cost between 30-40 an office visit and then meds. I'd take 'em to be checked so u know of any other problems they may have. Good luck!

What do these little specks look like?

Mites are generally microscopic and hard to see (if you see them at all),while lice are reddish,brown things.

My vet charges $45-$50 for an exam fee and then whatever the cost of the meds are.Most vets charge this.But it is better to go to the vet then buy stuff at a pet store,because flea and tick sprays are not really the safest for rats and mice and generally do not work.You will need something like Advantage or Revolution and find out the right doses.
