Update on Me and the Rat situation
I thought that I would keep you guys up to date on my potential rat situation.
The situation with that girl has not improved, so we began to seek out other opportunities. We will not be dealing with her.
I have been in contact with someone else from that same board who seems much more responsible. I also suspect that she is a breeder, but she hasn't said as much. Her rats are currently 18 days old and she is going to start putting them on reserve for people on July 1st.
We passed her adoption application today. This makes me very excited. It means that this weekend I can put a pair of them on hold and we can start talking about how to pick them up. She is already travelling in our direction for a different drop-off, so we are hoping to co-ordinate something for the same time.
Now I just have to decide between boys and girls. ;p

It's alright. I'm a patient person usually and I wouldn't want to rush into anything. That situation just started to sound less and less safe, so we decided that it was best to avoid it.
This new opportunity is much better, and I think we are going to be much happier for it. For instance, the woman we are dealing with now is willing to meet on neutral ground for us to pick up the little ones, which is just much nicer.

I'm glad you found someone you're more comfortable dealing with. Good look choosing a gender.

great news! i personally prefer males. they have more of a smell to them (not stinky) but they are more lovable and lazy. just like little teddy bears.
the girls are generally smaller and they are alot more likely to play with toys, etc. they are more adventerous but less likely to injoy setting with you and being petted (in my experiance)

I like males better too.Males are better as lap rats, while females rather explore and play! Both make wonderful pets tho!

We've decided that we think males will make better first rats. Tommorrow is when reserves for the babies we are looking at open, so I will give you all an update when we have something confirmed.

Well, I got the confirmed reservation of the two baby boys we wanted. We'll be picking them up in 2 or 3 weeks. We are still working on an exact date because we are coordinating with another person as well.
Here are a couple of pictures that the woman I am adopting them from sent me:
Black berk boy with some chicken

Pink-eyed Beige/tan boy napping

Edit: I changed the photos to links. THey came up much bigger than they did when I opened them on my computer. ><

The lady I'm adopting them from sent me some new pictures today. I thought I'd share. If Ryan can manage to get the time off from work, we'll be picking them up July 15th.
The beige:
In a tube
Chillin'
Cuddling with his teddy
The black:
Blankie time
Chillin'
Belly rub
Both:
Come back, brother.
