Updates
Okay, so it's been a really long time since I've been here, so I'll update you on my pets:
One of our boy mice escaped and another died. One of our female mice was killed by our cat. My dad let the five remaining boys into the wild because 'they smell.' My aunt and uncle moved back to the UK, so we inherited their male American shorthair cat, Cloud.

aww that sucks...so how many mice do you have left?
the mice wont survive in the wild...that really sucks that it occured, the smell could have been reduced with neutering...was there no one you could have given them away to? Did your dad just let them go without even telling you?

I know! I feel so bad. They probably didn't survive more than a few days, especially the white ones. I wanted to get the neutered, but my dad said it was too expensive. He said he wanted to let them go, but he never said when and where.
We only have five mice left. I want to get more, but my mom and dad are adamant about keeping the number of pets low, even though I take great care of them and my mom never has to do any feeding or cleaning.

I'm hoping I can. The females don't smell and we have two huge cages for only five mice, so I'm sure that one or two more won't be much of a problem. I bet I could buy another mouse and no one would notice. My family never goes in the storage room, anyway.

I am sorry.
What a shame. Those mice probably did not survive.Domestic mice and rats rarely stand a chance in the wild.

That's exactly what I tried to tell my dad, but he kept talking about how the owls won't go for the white mice because they're unnatural.

Thats not true.Owls, foxes and other predators will just see "prey" when they look at those mice.

Well, he video tapes animals for our college and I guess he saw that the mice they were feeding the owls were all wild. I dunno. He must've heard it somewhere.
