We are building a cage

I am so excited. We are using a bookshelve with waterproof wood, for the door we make a frame and attach wire mesh to it. In the shelves we will cut some holes so they can climb to differrent levels. This will be so neat I can't wait. I just sent hubby for supplies. Just had to share, this means she can get a friend really soon.

How fun! I've always wanted to do that, but my parents think I'm nuts with the rats already. I take it you're doing something like this (though not as big): http://www.dapper.com.au/grotto.htm

Yikes that is HUGE LOL. Yes something like that but smaller, that's a great picture, those are pretty cheapto make, you can get a bookshelf for 10 bucks and the wire mesh is cheap too.
We build a cage for our guinea pig too, it looks like a huge doll bed though, but hey it's spacey.
I wished he'd hurry back with the supplies already. :blob3:

Very nice! The cage looks big enough for at least 2 rats. You can type in the dimensions on this site, and it will tell you how many rats can comfortably fit in a cage.

We are building a cage

We came up with almost the same idea last summer.

Rosie's Dad did quite a wonderful job. Here are pictures of the building and finished produce. Keep in mind there is no carpeting any longer:

We are going to add to it this weekend. We have a couple of cages that are just sitting empty. They will be put on top and connected with tubing. It will give them somplace else to explore and get away if they want. It should be a kick. I love watching them play. It has taken Ben a long time to come to terms with being with the girls.
