We can't find Rayray!!!??!!
It's been a night and almost a ful day now since I've lost Rayray. I thought he would be easy to find, I mean at first Ray ray thought it was a game, he went straight under the sofa and kept on popping he head back out waiting for me to try to catch him, But he soon got bord and got into the sofa. I could not get him out and it had been an hour or so, so I just went to bed. In the morning I tipped up the sofa and heard him move, so I left it for him to come out on his own. I had to go shopping. I left makeing sure he didn't hop out and did the same when I got back, When I went into the kitchen there was poop everywhere, so once again I searched the whole house... almost 3 hours later and there is no sign of him at all.. I really Really need your help!! Do you know where their favourite hiding places are.. Im extremely shaky and don't know what to do, I've basically riped the sofa to peices to make sure he hasent gone back...

I've searched the whole kitchin and blocked the holes in the kitchin. The bathrooms I have are tiny, so I checked them, nothing there, I closed the doors. All the bedrooms are closed...
I don't know what to do. He has the run of the rest of the house, no way out...

Close all the doors in your house and put some really yummy food in each room. When some is eaten, you'll know what area he's in. After you determine this, you can try putting his cage there and leaving it open. It's likely he'll return to it. Otherwise, try putting some of the same yummy food in a bucket with a ramp to it on the outside. Hopefully he'll get in and not be able to get out. This is useful for hamsters, but rats can jump quite well, so I'm not sure how well this would work, unless you want him to fall quite a ways.

I have never had a rat get out and hide.My rats always come back to me.
But I have had mice and my hamster get out and get lost.
For my little hammie,I did the open cage thing. The cage is a safe spot and hopefully your Ray will return to the cage, where his food, water and bed is.
The food in different rooms is a wonderful idea as well.

yes, I've spoken to other people and they said they don't think I've given it long enough and to stop worrying, but I told them it's a bit unusual for a rat to be gone this long! I mean I have lost a hamster before, but when I went to bed even he found his way up the stairs to my bed! Rayray is still missing though and Im really feeling the pain, I mean he is the only one that will sit on my shoulder and brux while I stroke him.. the other ones dominate and he is hyper when I hold him! I hope I find him soon. By the way about.. he should be back by now, when ever I put him on the floor for a run around it's like his personallity completly changes.

Hope you find your little guy soon, i dont really have any more advice for you other than what people have posted already, ive never had rats, but i hamsters get out a few times, we usually find them around the fridge since the bottem of the fridge is usually very warm. but since yours seems to like the furniture, maybe if you sat on the floor and watched a movie or something he would eventually come out and say hi?

we think he is in the lounge we still can't see him and now it's been 2nights and a day pepper is really suffering without a friend, so I've decided if we can't find rayray soon im going to get another two from the pet shop. The cage I have is big enough for 4 so it should not be a problem tho if we can get our hands on rayray i will stick with just the two. thanks everybody who tryed to help, I will speak to a friend to see if she can help me post some piccys of the boys

Yes.A dumbo rat is exactly like a standard rat in care and everything.Dumbos are fancy rats. They are just a different variety.
Maybe offer treats around the area you think Ray is in.Maybe close the room off as well.
