Went to the vet

Okay Remi and I went to the vet y'all were right, early stages of a URI. They gave him a shot and gave me some drops to give him and my other boy if he starts showing symptoms although he's fine so far. I'm wondering if I can make life easy by pulling Remi out and giving him some whole wheat bread or cereal with the drops on it. I'm worried that holding him down to force feed medicine this early in our relationship by damage things a little. Any ideas?

Also, what could have made him just bite my sister the way he did. He got her hard and on purpose twice and today the vet poked proded and gave him a shot that made him scream and he never tried to bite her.

One last question. Does anyone know how likely he is to recover from this kind of infection? I'd hate to lose my cute little guy sooo young.

You can try to see if he can eat babyfood and cereal watered down or cooked whole wheat rice.(I don't know if the rice has another name or not but it's just the "healthier" rice.

When I have to give my rats meds,I put the stuff in fruity baby food. That way they get their dose of meds AND a little snack and they don't put up a fight.

The other thing I was wondering is if the antibiotics could have a negative effect. I know with people if they're on strong antibiotics they have to have yogurt or something else with live cultures so that the antibiotics don't mess up their digestive tract. Is that true for rats? Should I maybe be putting some lowfat sugar free yogurt in there for them? Thanks for all the advice. I am happy with his progress so far. This morning when I gave him his meds he was much wigglier and way more playful and curious. I think he already feels a lot better.
