Will my mice ever get along?

Hi I just recently purchased another mouse to accompany my first mouse, and i've been having some issues. From the start my first mouse has been aggressive towards the new one even after I cleaned and steralized the whole cage including all toys and hiding places. I let them meet in a nutral teritory (a large tupperware) I even put a dab of vanilla flavoring on each of them to confuse there scents. They seemed to get along at first, there were a couple little struggles but nothing big so after a while I thought it was time to let them see the cage. So I put them in at the same time and they did okay for a while but after a while the first mouse was acting like he wanted everything the other mouse had, if the new one wanted to sit in a corner then the first one had to have that corner and she would scare her out of that corner. The same thing happend with the wheel. so after a while there was to much fighting so I took the orignal mouse out (I did'nt want her to think she had won) so i put her in another cage for a while and after a bit I tried again and repeated the process multiple times. they just wouldnt get along. so I had the orignal mouse sleep in a diferent cage for the night and I tried again in the morning. The same thing happend they fought. I've tried everything I can think of. Will these two mice never get along or is there hope? Any suggestions would help.

One thing you could try is too Put your original mouse (Mu A) into the second cage and Put your new mouse (Mu B) into the Mu A's cage. From there let them spend several nights in those cages and every ummm, about three days or so switch the mice from cage to cage. Keep everything else the same in the cages so that your mice can get the others scent. And after switching the mice back and forth about 2 or 3 times, try to re-introduce them.

Having known the other mouses scent will lessen the aggression between them. You will still get some little fights, but dont seperate them unless you see fur and/or blood flying. They will need to establish who is the dominant mouse of the two of them

even best friends will have fights but you are to be worried if there is blood. if there is, then seperate them and then try to reintroduce them later in about a day and if there is a bloody fight again, they will probably not ever get along.

Are they male or female?
Two male mice rarely can get along and will often fight to the death.


If there is no blood,you shouldn't worry.
Let them work it out on their own.I would put them both in a NEW cage that neither of them are used to.Try that.
