Wooden House

I got a wooden house from PetCo... and recently they started chewing on it and it looks like they're eatting the wood. Is this dangerous?

It could be dangerous, my hamster eats paper, I don't know if thats dangerous, but if splinters get stuck in your rats throat it could be very painful and you might see a rat choking or gaging, which means you will see the rats head go back and its ears go down, don't try to help it or you will make it worse but if you see any of this take it straight to a vet!

My rats eat wood all the time and they've never had a problem with it. The only time they've ever choked has been on actual food. You need to have wood for them to chew on, it's good for their teeth and keeps them occupied. If they eat it, ah well, rats in the wild have survived for millions of years and I'm sure some of them eat wood too. Try not to worry about it, I'm sure they'll be fine.
