Hello there,
I know I have not really posted anything before, forgive my shyness, but I finally have something I would like to bring up....
A couple days ago, I went to a
pet shop in town that I don't ever go to, since it has a really bad reputation for not taking care of their pets, but I needed chin sand (I'm allergic to dust) and my usual supplier was out. Anyways, I bought what I needed, and was about to leave when I noticed the sign "New! Chinchillas $80" I couldn't resist. In a 3' by 3' cage there were about 5 gray chinchillas. The clerk came over and I asked him if they were all males or all females and of course he replied that they were 3 males and 2 females together. One was apparently pregnant (no surprise there) and was due in a week. He hadn't the mind to separte them. He said his brother (who owned the store) took care of the details, so he couldn't answer any of my questions. The chins at least had healthy fur, eyes, and teeth. But they were being fed only pellets and water. I wish that pet shop would hurry up and close down!
I feel so sorry for the females, and would love to rescue them, but the question is, would it do them any good? I have rescued a chin from a
pet store that was closing down before, and he died 5 months later, $800 later. What do you guys think I should do?
