Chin Issues

I have two issues.
My one chin is very small. She is 4 months old. She eats about 1 cup of food a week. but barely grows at all. My two other chins eat alot more but are huge buggers. She has plenty of energy and is a big cuddler. I have been giving her.5 cc of nutrical like every two days. She gobbles it up. She runs on the wheel quite a bit when I stick it in her cage and chews on wood blocks. I just don't know wha is wrong with her. I really wanted to breed her because we payed $200 for her but if she is not over 600 grams then I won't. Does anyone else have small chins? She is not a dwarf or a miniature. it is not in her lines at all.

My second issue is my other chin. She is a huge girl not overly fat tho. She has a weepy eye. It doesn't affect her vision as far as i know and there has never ben gunk coming from it. It is just a little watery. We took her to the vet and they gave her meds called 'Neomycin and Polymyxin B Sulfates and Gramicidin Ophthalmic Solution USP'. They didn't do any difference. We are going to take her to the vet soon to get x-rays of her mouth and chest. IS that right? I just wanted to know if anyone else has this problem with one of their chins?

Should I take both to the vet?

Thanks

I can help with the first question. Some chins are just small. I have a male white mosaic from big parents and he is now 6 months and not over the 400 gram mark. He has been to the vet and there is nothing wrong with him, they just come in all sizes. Was she the runt of the litter? A check up can't hurt though.

For your second question the only thing I can think that causes weepy eyes is sometimes the dust gets in there and can irritate it. I would take her back to the vets just to make sure it is not something more serious.
Good luck and I am sure someone with more expirence will come along.

From what I have seen within my heard, some chins are slow growers but bloom between 10 and 18 months. Your little one is only 4 months so maybe you will have some growth spurts over the year!

The weepy eye and slight overweight can also be caused from candidas (yeast that resides in the body). Mention this if you like to your vet as a possible problem to be checked as well. The teeth should definately be checked. Also the bedding sometimes can be a problem. Pine chips when mixed with urine creates a gas that can be irritating to chins that are sensitive. This is true with aspen, they also can have allergies. Kiln dried pine has proven to be a good choice or some of the natural paper product beddings are good also.

These are just possible ideas. I hope your chin is found to be in great health!!!

It sounds like your first chin is just a late bloomer, I have some over a year old and still growing, and also some over a year that seem to have stopped right around 500g. She's still young though, so I think she'll grow more.

For your chin with the weepy eye, I'd say your vet is right on track, what you've got (neo-poly... ) is good for eye infections, and if it doesn't help things, the next step is to check mouth and teeth.
