Chinchilla breeders in Ohio?

Does anyone know of any Chinchilla breeders in Ohio, preferably Northeastern? I know of Seward but that is it.

Why not rescue? There's a chinchilla rescue in NE OH:

I'm not sure where exactly they are but if you want a larger ranch I believe the Ryerson's are in that area.

I just did, and it unfortunately ended in a death. I would rather not have to go through that again, seeing how the history is unknown most of the time with rescues.

Jade, do you have any info on them you could share?

How about shipping? How exactly does that work?
I just want a good chinchilla since I just went through a bit of a traumatizing experience.

Also, how about show animals? I think it would be kind of neat to get into that eventually. Anyone have any good links or advice?

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, but to be completely honest, any chinchilla that you get anywhere has a possibility of death. A breeder may know their lines better, but it's not proof against illness or other problems.

Just because you had one bad experience does not mean that rescue animals are not "good".

I don't think Toni is breeding anymore, but don't quote me on that. If she is, jump on it. Her chins are sweeties and she has good lines.

I think she still has some older chinchillas on her sales page up for grabs. Just not any kits

She has chins at Jan's (Ryerson) sometimes. I go out there a couple times a year and Toni's been out some of the times. Usually Jan shows me which ones are there that are hers because they're for sale. She must still have chins, I just don't see her online anymore like she used to. But yes, her chins are all very nice.

Chin Breeders in NE Ohio

Seward no longer breeds, they are just a rescue. Ryersons is in NW Ohio, and they're very pricey.

Blue Sky Chinchilla ranch is in NE Ohio, in the Canton area off I77.

They have 300+ breeders. I work there, they handle every baby born as its born, and every day after that. Search for her website. if you need a N.e Ohio breeder. 330-478-elevensixtythree
Don't mean to advertise, like I said I work there. She nurses sick and injured chins from surrounding states, too. Awesome to watch her hand feed babes that have lost their mamas, or cast a broken leg on a chin. I have two chns that I purchased there, and they are top quality. I paid 80 for a standard grey, $125 for a beige. Hope you find what you're looking for! Monica

Old list some aren't breeding anymore, sold their herds in Ohio

[

The list below is very out of date, here are some updates.

Shoots sold their entire herd to a man from Mexico this past year. Troy of JT chns passed away last year.
I believe Tonis were all original Ryerson stock, if its the Toni I know, and she has sold most of her herd. Mussers sold their entire herd two years ago, Blue Sky Chins in Canton, Ohio bought their remaining herd, because of Sheila's health problems. Sewards discontinued their breeding program to concentrate on rescues. Greg Vetter of Better Vetter chins sold his herd. Ryersons suffered a loss of a huge amount of chns due to overheating last summer and they dont have as much available at present, because most are in breeding. And there aren't as many Ohio breeders as there used to be a few years ago, probably due to the economy. Monica
