Help
So my male chinchilla has always been good with peeing in the cage always on the ground in the shavings but ever since I got my female chinchilla she has been peeing everywhere i didnt think she would act like this since my male has always been good, does this have somthing to do with her being a female? and she Especially like peeing from the top of the cage since the cage levels have openings. And that makes the pee go everywhere even out side the cage I cant stand it I love her to death but its getting a little extreme!! Help!

You really should have got another male.
Oh well.
Most chins prefer to pee the same place, and are very clean about it. But for some reason some chinchillas will just pee the weirdest places, and there is really nothing you can do about it.
Out of 8 chins, where 5 are girls, we have no problem with them peeing every where. But I know a few people who has one or two animals that does this.

My females are much messier than my males when peeing. They can spray and I have to clean all the walls when I clean the cages. I do hope you have your male and female separated unless you are trying to breed

Yup that's correct. Some chins just prefer to pee everywhere.

haha alright i'll just have to accept her messy habbits, well i did have them seperated .. but they figured out a way to sneek over so i gave up on that. and they get along great they always cuddle, he did try to mate with her in the beginning but she did let that happen and i think its because she doesnt have a proper place to have babies so she wont let him get her knocked up.
but they seem very happy with each other and they never fight so it never occured to me to seperate them again... that is until one day if she does have babies.

its pretty much inevitable that they will breed someday. even if they dont for a long time. if you dont know their backgrounds it can be dangerous to breed them for mother and the babies. certain chinchilla genetics create a lethal factor in their kits. it would be really best to separate them. remember too, they can breed through the cage bars if they are too close together. they will find a way.

shouldn't keep them together unless male is newtered. possible pregnancy already. could explain strange pee behavior.

i dont breed so I dont know but certain colors of chinchillas when bred have a possibility of birth defects and complications. its best to not let them breed because you have no idea what kind of underlying problems they could have without you even knowing.

tov * tov and white * white is said to give a lethal factor.
It is not known exactly how bad this is.
For the most part, an embryo with these lethal genes will be reabsorbed on in the uterus. The chance of this causing any danger is very small. But if this accurs often, the female can become steril, or even get sick and die.
So you should never breed these animals.
Some people breed them, but that's mostly ranchers, who has a much better idea of what they are doing.
IF a lethal baby gets born, it will either be dead, or die within the first 24 hours.
Other than that, furchewing and problems with the teeth is a problem. Especially with the teeth you can have a problem, because it may not show until they are a few years old.
Get the male neuterd. The risc of him getting hurt is so tiny today, that it's a chance worth taking, if they like each other.
Just find a good vet, who has done it on small animals/rodents before.

I would definitely get the male neutered asap if you are keeping them together. I got mine neutered when I wanted to get another chin, because it was a female. He took it great and it actually helped him calm down a bit. He used to try and bite people when they tried to pick him up when he was out of the cage, or when he didnt want to go back in he would get all pissy, and attack white socks haha. but after he was neutered he calmed down and he got to live with the female the entire time she was alive. it was nice to see. so as said earlier, find a vet who has done small animals before, it shouldnt cost too much to get it done either. good luck!
also- maybe put some guards up on the sides of their cages to help with the pee? I put a board up on the side of the cage next to my desk so I wouldnt get chinchilla poo on my computer! haha
