Makin' a vet trip
Be thinking of me and my guys today. I'm hauling them all to the vet. Peanut has had the sneezy sniffles for the last 2 days and we're all going to the vet today to get him checked out. I think he just didn't like the critter care bedding I had him in while I waited to get pine so I switched him and he seems to be better. I'm still taking him to the vet to be safe, rather than sorry. I'm taking the other 3 chins too to get them check ups, weights, etc. I figured while I was paying for a vet visit I'd make it worth our while. The vet hasn't met Diablo and Peanut yet so this will be a chance to get them in there and on file.
I've never taken 4 chinnies to the vet before so this may be an experience. Thank goodness for those nifty Ryerson carriers. What would I do without them?

Thanks Mandie! I hope it's nothing serious too. That stinking critter care bedding is just so dusty! Diablo rolled around in it thinking it was a bath when he first got in. It was so funny! I think that Peanut just didn't handle that kind of bedding very well. I hope that's all it was anyway. The poor little guy has been constantly sneezing and wiping his nose for the past 2 days!

Well we're home. The vet agreed it was probably just a reaction to Peanut's bedding but prescribed him some antibiotic just in case. I just gave him some and he really liked it. Thank goodness for cherry flavoring.
Do I need to give him something else since he's getting antibiotic? I remember reading about yogurt or something. I've never had to give antibiotic before though so I've never really paid that much attention. The vet didn't mention it I just thought I read it somewhere.
Anyway, thanks everyone for thinking of us and I'm glad to say everyone is healthy and doing well!

I give acidophilus with antibiotics, at opposite hourly intervals (i.e. if I'm giving the antibiotic at 12 and 12, I give the probiotic at 6 and 6.). It helps keep the balance of their GI tract equalized. Personally, I avoid yogurt due to lactose.
I hope he does well for you! Glad to hear he thinks it's nothing.
