I have a big problem

I've been going nuts trying to get my ferrets vaccinated. My vet keeps telling me the vaccines are on back order for the past 6 months. I'll be moving to the U.S. from Canada and my ferrets must be vaccinated before then but again my vet who does specialize in ferrets is telling me that the vaccines are on back order until August and I've been waiting since last September. Has anyone else had this problem? I'll go to another province if I have to but leaving my brats behind is not an option.

I've heard that the Purvac, distemper vaccine is on back order.

Imrab-3 is the only vaccine for rabies and it's fine from what I hear

Ask your vet about Fervac-D or Gallaxy-D for distemper.

Remember, don't let your vet give both shots during the same visit. Always put two weeks in between.

That seems awfully odd to be on backorder that long! Could you call a different vet?

Hi fsty, yes it has been a while. I went too long without a computer now I have a spare just incase. I called 2 vets today one is supposed to call me back tomorrow as soon as she finds the number for the exotic vet she recommends. The other only has one set of distemper and rabies vacines but I hate bringing my ferrets to her, its a we hate her, she hates us kind of thing. Its not a good scene . I have never seen Jynx so determined to bite someone and it doesn't help that I can't stop myself from laughing because I don't like her all that much either. She just isn't able to handle ferrets and with what seems so little experience with ferrets I don't want her tending to them.

I thought it was weird to I mean even if it has been on back order why not just go to another company? Then again we can have a flu vaccine shortage its possible. Hopefully I'll get some answers tomorrow.

Holy cow I think that post came out of no where. My vet will not give the fervac-D vaccine because the chance of a reaction is higher. As far as not getting both at the same time thanks K10 for the reminder but thats why I don't like my old vet we argued over the fact that she wanted to give my ferrets both shots at once so she could save her fingers.

Well I got the number and called a highly recommended exotic vet who did say Pervac will not come in until November but they do still have Fervac-D. They see no problem giving them the Fervac-D since they already had received it without any reaction. I just have to make it all the way to the other side of Montreal.
