Litter?

What kind of litter does everyone use in their litter pans? I have been using the ferret recycled newspaper litter but the little pet store in town quit carrying it and it is a long drive to the next town to a PetsMart. All I can find local is cat litter -- is there a certain brand of cat litter that is safe? I plan to stock up next time we get to PetsMart but was just wondering. I've read that the clumping kind of cat litter is not good.

Thanks! I can't seem to find the wood pellets anywhere. The Home Depot told us they only carry them from Sept - Dec and then only get a few bags in. I called all the local hardware and the lumber stores. Guess since I'm in Texas not too many people use those kind of wood stoves - lol. So, for now I'm going to stick with yesterday's news. I can get a big bag at PetsMart and it will last awhile so is worth the drive when I run out.

You might try a feed store too. I use pelleted Aspen and it works great for my chins.

Melinda you might wanna try "yesterday's news" it can be found at Petsmart in the cat section. I use it for my Prairie Dogs and I love it! I looks like pellet food, but it absorbs really well and never had a problem with odor like I have all the other. I have tried several different litters. You can buy it in a 30lb bag and it last forever!

I cannot deal with odor, so I have finally find something that is safe for them with no chemicals yet controls odor and mess.
