My boyfriend and I wanted to get a pet together, and we have both always wanted a ferret, but never had one. So, after much research and talk, we decided to adopt one from a shelter.
Murdoc (Murry the Furry, I call him) was adopted this afternoon from a shelter not far away from my home. The place we got him from is run by a lady who takes in ferrets that people have left in parking lots or simply given to her or
animal control, fixes any problems they have (medical or biting, for example) and when she feels they are ready, adopts them out. We drove out there, talked with her for an hour, met the ferret, played with him for a while and watched him run around and interact with things, then signed the adoption form.
Murdoc is a male champagne mitt. He's about a year old, has dark eyes, and a little spot on his head. He's very friendly and curious. After playing for some time, he took a nap on my tummy. Now he's asleep in my room. He has a brand new three story cage, with solid ramps and levels, and plenty of toys. My boyfriend and I love him dearly, and even my mom, who was anti-ferret, is laughing at his antics already.
I just had to gush about him, he's my first ferret, and he's wonderful. He's had me laughing all day. I'll have pictures of him soon, and then I'll put a link to them up here.
