Question About ferret Colors

Well, I am thinking about getting a third ferret!
I know I know, it's crazy, but I love my two so much i want another!
My question is, i want a very specific color, and I don't know what it is called. i want one that is mostly all black, with black on it's nose. Is that a dark sable, or a panda? Or something else? I wish I had a picture of oneso I could post it. Also, my first two are females, so should i keep all females, or would it be okay to introduce a male into the mix/ They would all be fixxed, of course.
Thanks

if they are all fixed then it doesn't matter if you have males & females together. The male may initially try to show dominancy which is completely normal, but that isn't a reason not to get a male

as far as colors it sounds like you are looking for a black sable. (a dark sable is very similar but actually is brown) A panda is not black at all, usually they have brown leggs & body & a solid white head with or without a very small amount of markings. Winnie (my youngest ferret) below is a Panda.

Also just so you are aware; pandas, blazes & DEWs (dark eyed whites) are prone to deafness. That doesn't by any meand they are all deaf or that you shouldn't get one, it just means you need to be more aware of how to handle them a little diffrerently... and a little more research

I believe there is a link on the top of the ferret forums for more information on colors/markings

Thank you. It will probably be a while before I get it. I want to adopt from a shelter this time as well.
See when I hear the word "Panda" I think of Panda's being balck and white, so the mental image of a "Panda ferret" would look like that.

I'm right with you on that one! I thought the same thing when I started out with ferrets

Panda ferrets are basically black and white. The ferret you are talking about if an extra dark sable, a dark sable is mostly black, but an extra dark sable is completely black.

I want a extra dark sable or a chocolate. I have an albino too, his name is Snowball, but my cam isn't working so I can't take any pictures of him.

Panda ferrets are NOT black & white, but rather have darker markings (usually brown) on the legs & have a solid white head (with or without a trace of markings). Winnie (the picture I posted above) IS a panda.

and what you are looking for is a Black Panda. The 2nd link above is actual picture examples of different color mutations.

A panda ferret isn't black and white. There is a rare breed of dalamation ferrets that are black and white. A panda coloring is similar to a badger face.
