Bedding!!!

Ok, this particular forum has been a little dead lately, so I thought I would add a new thread!

Bedding! what type do you use for your wonderful little hedgie? would you recommend it? or what would you like to try?

I use pine shavings. Definatly not the best for small animals but I am considering ordering some other good stuff off the internet once I get my credit card (or otherwise known as Hedgie Emergency Fund) I won't use carefresh cuz I have heard some horror stories about hedgies eating it.

Anywhoo, love to hear from ya!

I use Vellux(sp?) blankets. I find them the most conventent, They dry very quickly, so if the hedgie goes to the bathroom on it, it dries fast and they arent' sitting on it. They are wash able, so you can reuse them without spending tons of money on the bedding! You can get them for 19.99- the rejected kind. Nothing is wrong with them, they may have been cut un even, or the die faded ect. They are also very safe, you cannot get mites or other things that are found in the "wood" type beddings, however if a hedgehog should eat it, you may run into problems, tho most hedgehogs dont try to eat it. I find this to be the perfect bedding, it also keeps the hoggies warmer on those cold winter nights < so yes, I would reccomend it.

Hello!!! (Megan )

I use vellux in some parts of my cages but my favorite bedding are Sherry Arata liners. They are 2 layers of courderoy with a layer of fleece in the middle. Hegdies can scratch and scratch and scratch and there is NO fuzz, which is the problem with vellux. They are nice and warm and virtually undestuctable.
