What are some of the pros and cons of owning a hedgehog?

Some of the Cons of owning a hedgehog are :

They aren't legal in all states.

They are harder to care for.

They don't do well in cold tempertatures.

They are a fairly new pet, and finding a good vet is a hard thing to do.

They are active at night, and are usually grumpy in the day , so if your not a night person, a hedgehog isn't the best idea.


They have quills, and know how to use them!

They don't do well with other pets

Most dont like to have other friends

Pros:

They are a REAL joy to have, and are VERY funny

They are easier then some small pets

Not very expensive to feed, or house.

Don't take up too much space(a few 96qt sterilite containers will do for a hog or two!)


They are the best pets, when you work with them,a nd bring them out of their shells.

Con - their poop stinks!

Pro - they can be litter trained!

Pro - Just look at that face!!

Con - Just look at those Quills!!

If the poop is really stinky, take a look at diet... I can definitely tell when I don't have my mix balanced because I can smell it in the results. When it's a good balance, my 40+ hedgies are less smelly than my 1 cat.

Don't play or cuddle like a cat or dog will
