I'm going to quote from my book Bringing a
Prairie Dog Pup into Your Home (written by Karen Stoica, Betsy Callis, Lynda Watson)
Formula Number 1
1 part lamb's powdered milk replacer
1 part dry baby cereal mix (rice or oatmeal)
1 part powdered timothy pellets (ground pellets in a blender)
7 parts water
Mix the formula in a blender prior to each feeding. Mix the formula daily and discard the unused portion. The formula should be room temperature or just slightly warm. Do not make the formula too hot or the baby's mourh can be injured. Formula that is too cold can cause cramping and stomach upset.
Formula Number 2
1 part canned goat milk or evaporated canned milk
1 part sweet potato baby food in a jar
2 parts water
(Pedialyte may be added if the baby is having diarrhea or stressed)
This formula may be refrigerated for up to 3 days. Do no freeze the formula.
The syringe size recommended is 3 to 5 cc to make the amount of formula dispensed easier to control. Controlling the amount dispensed is very important, especially when feeding young pd pups, to prevent formula aspiration.
