Black-tailed Prairie Dog
Cynomys ludovicianus

Description
A large prairie dog. Pinkish brown above; whitish or buffy white below. Slim, sparsely haired tail with black tip unique among prairie dogs. Short, rounded ears; large black eyes. L 14–16 3/8" (355–415 mm); T 2 7/8–4 1/2" (72–115 mm); HF 2–2 1/2" (50–65 mm); Wt 32–48 oz (900–1,360 g).

Hehe...I think I just found another "future pet". Both white-tails and black-tails are -so- adorable. I think I will have to eventually get one of both! :blue:

Black Tailed Prairie Dog

Order: Rodentia
Family: Sciuridae
Genus: Cynomys

Characteristics
The black-tailed prairie dog is a member of the squirrel family and is closely related to the ground squirrel. It has yellowish to reddish brown fur on its back and sides and lighter colored fur under its neck and on its chest. It has small ears on the sides of its head, a long body, small front paws with long claws, and a short black-tipped tail.

OMG that first picture looks IDENTICAL to my Leo and the second, IDENTICAL to my Lorelai...who has been snapping pictures of my babies without my knowledge? Hmm?
