Floor Time for Baby PDs
When you first get you baby pd you are tempted to carry it around for hours, and watch it play...........
Here's the trick - baby pds are slippery little buggers. Super wigglers.
Take your baby out of his/her cage several times a day - hug them, pet them, kiss their throats, rub their cheeks.
When they start to crab or wiggle - put them right back in the cage. DO NOT PUT THEM ON THE FLOOR OR FURNITURE TO RUN.
Keep them on this routine for at least 3 weeks. Then put them on the floor, or the furniture and let them run and play. Give them max a half an hour the first time and then gradually increase their time out. Be carful because they will jump - and can get hurt falling off of things.
When you put them back in their cage, if they crab at you or try to bite - skip floor time for the next day.
PDs are soooooooooo smart it's amazing. What you are teaching the baby is that the floor is YOURS not theirs.
If you give them floor time immediately or too much too soon - you will have a pd that will fight tooth and nail when you try to put them back in the cage.
Thanks Dallas!
