Housing
Been wanting a PD for a very long time (few years) and was wondering what you all use for housing for your PDs. How big, did you make it, did you buy it, etc? And how many you keep in that size. Thanks alot! Can't wait to hear everyone's opinion!

I have this cage
From Martin's cages
I put a Y shaped pvc tube in the middle floor because PD's have no depth perception and I didn't want them to forget about the opening and fall through. I put a wooden hidey house under the top balcony that serves as a step down in case they feel too lazy to use the ramp. I put a pvc tube under the bottom balcony for them to use as a step down from there. I honestly don't think they would get hurt from that short of a distance if they were to fall but I would rather be safe than sorry, so I put in the tubes and the hidey house.
Betsy's custom creations has great cages but I think the shipping would be rather expensive. I'm still trying to save up for one though.

Here's the link to Betsy's site.
Her cages are so pretty, plus with the plexiglass sides you don't have to worry about cage nose or the PD damaging their teeth.

I agree, her cages are so pretty and expensive and she's way too far away for me to even think of buying one.

I have the Betsy cage , the two level one. The cage has been great for me, I've had it for about 2 years, and yes very expensive. My girls are so nuts, that they always chew on the pvc tube in the cage, and when they are out running around, they will go by the cage (the outside) and start chewing on it, so I have some great indentations of their teeth on the cage. The plexi-glass helps so much with messes, since they are such mess makers!!!!!

My hubby has said he will make our 2, one similar to Betsy's cages. They are so nice. I am not holding my breath on him making it anytime soon though :beam:

is this cage to small ?
I use the Super Pet Deluxe FerreTrail Funnel Homes with Stand 47"w x 20"d x 38"h . But I remove the stand . It sets on the floor . Is this a bad cage to use ? He is not in it a lot . If I am home he is out with me . He likes following me through the house . And if I stop to do something , he will sit on my foot .

Boy Connie, your lucky that your pd is so good!!! Mine are just so curious, they would never follow me around the house or sit on my foot!! The only time that my Precious will grab my leg, is if I have her in the bathroom with me, she hates being in there, so she will try to climb up my leg, that's for me to pick her up. Your pd sounds way too cute, what a good little boy. I had a cage just like what you have, and my pd's where fine in it. They would love to climb and play in the tunnels. I had that cage for awhile before I got the Betsy cage.
