I WANT A PRAIRIE DOG!!

:blob2: It seems like everything is pointing to me getting one!!! :blob2:

Not once, but twice in the past week and a half we've had a PD in the clinic!! The first one was an absolute DOLL!!

His poor little tail had been de-gloved and had to be amputated but I got to help him recover ... he was such a little lover! I held him for a good two hours, he helped me check in patients! He just sat there. He loved to be scratched and would close his little eyes in ecstasy while you did it.

Our poor technician was scared of being bitten ... I had to talk her through his investigations but within 10 minutes they were buds! I did NOT want his mom to take him home!!


And then tonight, a girl brought a baby 'boy' in. I'm 98% sure it was a girl instead, but she handed her to me and the little thing was cold to the touch. My heart just broke then and there. I cuddled her to me and took her back to the ICU to be warmed up. She was doing well and snuggling when I left tonight. I hope she makes it.

The pet store sold her as 6 weeks old and weaned ... she looked AWFUL small for that. Only 185 grams ... does that sound right?



At any rate, I'm doing my darndest to resist but it isn't working well .... You guys have to help me live through pictures!!

My book doesn't say how much a 6 week old pup should weigh (or I can't find it at the moment). Average weight for adults is 2-3 pounds.

Jade, you should get one or two! I honestly don't think you would be one bit sorry. I love my girls to pieces!

No matter what, they show you the type of love that can't be described. They are the BEST, even though they can be bad little stinkers, once you hear that YAHOO, your heart melts all over again. YOU GOTTA GET ONE!
