Prairie Dog Diet

Just some advice for the soon to be new baby pds owners. Start your baby on a correct diet from the minute you bring him/her home.

Healthy diets consist of:

Timothy Based Pellets
TONS of Timothy Hay, other hays can be added for variety
1 tbsp of dry dog food per pup per day - only feed this until Mid to end of August. It's to help your baby bulk up a little until he/she matures.
Tiny slice of sweet potato or half a mini carrot once or twice a week. If you notice loose stools, remove this snack from their diet.
Mini shredded wheat - the trio dance for these!

No nuts, cereal, cookies, etc.

A fat prairie dog is an unhealthy prairie dog.

Lots of Luck and Yahoos with your new baby!

Many thanks to Dallas for sharing her knowledge!!
