We sent the chief of the Illinois Ag Department home with a copy of 'Bringing a PD pup into your home' so he can educate himself about the little fuzzbutts. I had Snickers out when he was here and I was stroking his belly so he was making lots of happy noises. The guy said he didn't know they talked. I think he thought they were pretty cute.

Another forum I visit had a person saying they didn't know why anyone would want to own a plague carrying whistle-pig. GRRRR!!!!! I pointed out that any animal is capable of carrying a disease, humans included and that the prairie dogs did not start this. I was going to add more but I didn't want to admit to owning one since a few DNR officials visit that site. I don't want anyone knocking on my door wanting to "test" them.

I didn't shoot my horses when west nile virus came to Michigan and I certainly won't get rid of my pd's!

This too shall pass, and hopefully soon!

Ok, I have no idea what actress David Letterman is interviewing right now, but I'm getting rather ticked off! "Your life must be pretty pathetic to feel the need to own a Prairie Dog and expose yourself to diseases" ..........not an exact quote here, but pretty darn close.

Some people have no clue!

I'm already tired of PD's being slandered and it's only been a few days.

Edited to add.......it was Lauren Gray (?) from Gilmore Girls.

Yeah, I just saw her too. I missed the awful comment she made and I have no idea who she is 'cause I don't watch her show, but I thought she was a loud-mouthed, snotty 'ol . And that opinion is based solely on her looks!!! (There - take THAT!!)

This is all getting out of hand. I always have said "Stupid People Should Not Breed" But they still let them. Setting here waiting to find out just what is going to happen is hard. The phone rings and you are not sure if you should answer it. Fear it is someone telling you bring your PD in. Connie

The government has put a ban on selling prairie dogs within the US. Is this a permanent ban or temporary ban? Another question I, as well as other people have, is what happens to the pd's people already own? Is the Department of Agriculture going to confiscate them? I understand the US has to take measure to stop the spread of the virus but it is shameful animals that are perfectly healthy may feel the wrath of all of this.

Actually, the selling ban is temporary from what I hear. If they do plan on banning pd's permanently I would think that the people that already have them would fall under some type of grandfather clause. I can tell you right now, NO ONE IS GOING TO TAKE MINE! I will go to jail first!

I honestly don't believe it's going to come to a nation wide ban though.

This whole thing is so blown-up and over-rated. It's obvious to us
animal people that not ALL pd's are sick, but some people just don't get it.

Connie, I completely agree! Stupid people should not be allowed to reproduce!! And I'm serious! There should be a permit or something!

Some lady on the local news said she was getting rid of her pd because she was scared she and her kids would get sick. She was unfit to be a pd owner in the first place, I could tell, but now what will happen to the poor little guy?! The STUPIDEST part was that she was holding the pd as she spoke, with her ugly kids running around in the background. DUH!!! You would be sick already!! Stupid ugly ...........grumble, grumble.........grrr......
