New Stick Insects, wow these are different ?
Well as we all do we go to the Pet shop to pick something up and we always end up coming back with more pets, I was trying to get some replacement parts for my two Eheim aquaball filters that i have in my fishtanks, I didn't get what I was looking for but I did come home with two filter sponges and two packets of frozen cubed bloodworm.
Anyway I also left the Pet Shop of Petts Wood near Orpington with a bag of Beutipet absorbant Pine granules of which I ran out of a few days ago,
I bought these two ausie Stick insects to go in the tank I bought, dont say there cute as they are stick insects and are spiky and look like they have leaves on thier legs, Makes a change from the Ordinary Indian sticks

Cute Noooo!
more like Knobelly like twiglets
Yes they are most definately different, these two strange leafy ones are both girls, you can get Males of these, but the tank was full of girls bent on taking over the Pet shop at Petts Wood like Amazon warrior girls

cute! I LOVE invertebrates sooooo much (I miss my different cockroach species... and the three different millipedes I had).
stick insects don't live very long though do they? aren't they seasonal insects? really too bad.. that's one thing that's stopping me from getting a flower or orchid mantis..

These two wierd insects are both girls unlike the Indian stick insects these two need boyfriends to reproduce, the Indian sticks just produce self fertile seeds.
The oldest stick insect I had was about 8 months which is excessive, they usualy last 6, the one that lasted 8 months was bright yellow, I fouind it in the garden at mum and dads on a Virginia creeper stem,it was a stick that was born in the compost heap after mum threw a bag of gravel out in the early summer and they hatched. Kim was the only stick I found outside, wow she must have been older than 9 months then.
Oh I dont know
I dont know how long these new ones last.
