Richardson Ground Squirrels

Has anyone ever seen one of these little critters? Or does anyone have one?
A friend of mine is giving me a Richardson Ground Squirrel, he looks like a miniature Prairie dog. I have been reading different things about them so that I will be able to take care of him the right way when he comes home with me this weekend.
I was wondering if anybody has any advice about them.
Here is a link to one site in case someone wants to see what they are:

I appreciate all the information I can get on this little critter. He is so cute. I can't wait to bring him home. But I do want to know how to take care of him when he gets here.

Christi, I am not to sure on how big they get. I am just starting to learn some things on them.

I have been begging hubby for a prairie dog and a pair of degus which he will not agree with, but he said yes to this little guy.

I had one and she was the very best pet ever. Housebroke herself. Unlike Prairie dogs< I have one of those too> they do not chew up your furnature or cords or dig up your carpet. They don't go though rutting so no neutering or spraying. I have never had a better pet. I Have had two in my life and both were the very best pets I ever had. Jump at a chance to get one if you can.......

Richardsons Ground Squirrels?

Does anyone know how to get them if you live in Missouri? People who sell them? I assume they are probably like prairie dogs in that they don't breed in captivity as well, huh? Most would be wild caught and rescues? I have read about them and have thought about getting some. I wanted a Prairie dog but the drastic change in personality that I have read about, sometimes even if they are nuetered scares me. They say when they bite, they hold on and really do damage.
