UPDATE:
I went to rescue that hosted at Petsmart at normal business hours in my area. I was pretty put off. Long story short I found a big calico boy who I wanted to take home. However the rescue volunteers and organizers wouldn't talk to me properly for me to know how to adopt him. Most of the rabbits had some orm of spreadable disease and pests on them. very scary. i came home and thew out my junk clothes I wore. I also took a shower before I did anything else.

What kind of "spreadable disease and pests" did they have on them?

Wow, I'm surprised they managed to even have rabbits with fleas, they're fairly difficult for rabbits to "catch".
(meaning, the most common types of fleas in the Americas cannot live on a rabbit host -- they can only hop onto them temporarily)

I have outdoor rabbits and they have gotten fleas before, that is why I use Advantage, or treat their environment. Allowing rabbits to run in the grass will expose them to parasites that house rabbits don't normally get, especially if the grass is wet. Rabbits can also get fleas if there is a problem with mice in the area. Outdoor rabbits need to be treated as outdoor or farm pets medically. I take my rabbits to a country doctor, because vets that just take care of house rabbits usually are not used to dealing with outdoor rabbit concerns. It's a different ball game. We need to take precautions with our outdoor rabbits, just as people need to rabbit proof their homes. My guess is that these rabbits were kept outdoors by people that don't know what they are doing.
I won't take my fosters to a store adoption because of how ignorant people are, bringing their dogs up to visit the poor rabbits, stressing them out. I think if I saw what you are describing, I would be tempted to put in a complaint with the Humane Society or the SPCA.

I also spray for viruses like Pasturella, which could be what some of these rabbits are suffering with.

Oops, should have wrote, "spray for viruses and Pasturella", instead of "viruses like Pasturella".

Maybe they got them from the cats right next to them. :C It was pretty gross. After picking me up and seeing these rabbits my Dad said a rabbit would have to be for another time. I accepted it because I just didn't feel up to it after seeing all this.
Today we had an odd turn of events though. I went to my local petstore and since all of the employees know me as 'Furry Mommy' I guess they decided to let me have a special bundle of joy. A BABY rex (i think?)dumbo rat. ;w;. Hes so small and tiny. Maybe a month at most. Hes about the size of a fancy mouse right now. I made a thread for him in the rat forum with pictures. I guess the story goes is that his mommy has a very large litter and the store didn't have time to keep feeding him. Hes old enough to be almost completely weaned now so im just going to make sure hes eating his Mazuri chow with lots O love and extra care. Im betting that he has an upper respiratory infection though. And also in the thread ive got more questions about him and so forth. Pop in if you want.

Just to clarify, fleas can and will jump onto rabbits and bite them, but they cannot complete their life cycle on a rabbit. So any rabbits that habitually end up with fleas are being exposed over and over again.

Hmm! Well! Then I don't know. But I know that some of rescue files on the rabbits stated they clearly had some fleas. Again the cats up for adopting were right above the bunnys. I wouldnt be suprised if they just hopped out of the kennels onto them. Not that far of a hop. Its nice to know it not usual for rabbits to haev fleas though! I didnt know that!

My family had an outdoor rabbit when I was a kid (I would have made them keep him inside but I was like 3 when we got him). Anyways, he lived outside for most of his 15 years and we never once had a problem with him getting fleas, even when our indoor cat got fleas he remained flea free!
The bunny you posted a picture of is cute! Are you still considering getting one someday or no? Good luck with your new rat.

Maybe in a while, month or so. Right now I busy taking my boy to the vet today at 1:30pm. Hes going to be treated for his nasty sneeze. After quarantine im going to be adopting 1 or two rats from Any Rat Rescue. Quarantines take a bit and id rather not consider a rabbit till I know my current pets are going to be healthy.
But yes, im still looking, just not at the moment.
I found however a very wonderful rescue that I would %100 want to get my rabbit from. All of the rabbits they have are very well taken care of and medicaly treated by the same vet im taking my rat to today. Heres the pair I was looking at:

But also the big boy:

Aw what adorable bunnies! You're so kind to think of adopting special needs rabbits too!

The first link didn't work for me, but the second bunny is cute.
If you think you can financially handle a bonded pair I would recommend one. I know it's an extra bunny so more expensive with vet trips and a bigger cage and all that, but after bonding my first pair I would never want to keep a single rabbit again unless I had one that really seemed to want to be alone or if for some reason I couldn't afford two. They usually really love having another rabbit companion and I looove to watch them groom and snuggle and play together.
