Bedding, Beds, and What not.

Hello, question on my sunny and her bed. I use carefresh bedding, but shes done this with any type of bedding really. Whenever she's in her cage, she plops down for a nap, but shes never actually on her bedding, she clears a space on the bare plastic floor. Is this normal for bunnies?

Also, I've heard of many people using either bedding, towels, or even dog beds/some sort of other bed for their buns' cage. I've tried a towel before, she moved it, (really didn't like it) and laid on the bare floor -_-. I was wondering if you think it would be safe to use some sort of bed? Does anyone here use a bed, not bedding?

Thanks!

I think that's normal for a lot of rabbits. I don't use bedding/lining of any kind in my cages any more because I don't see the point with my rabbits. If your bunny is litter-trained, maybe you'd be better off without bedding since it seems to annoy your rabbit anyways.

I've always found that a lot of rabbits prefer to lie on cool, smooth surfaces instead of in warm, fluffy beds/blankets (unless it's cold).

My rabbits really love this one type of dog bed for some reason. I don't know what it is about it, but so far all my rabbits have really liked them.

They look like this...

Barnaby has a cuddle cup that he likes too, but the other rabbits are to big for it and don't use it.

I guess it depends on the rabbit. Also, my rabbits don't chew their beds. If they did I would take it away from them - wouldn't want them to eat something that could cause a blockage or GI upset.

You don't need bedding in the cage if your rabbit is litter box trained. Just put something absorbant in the litter box and you can leave the rest of the cage floor bare. Especially since your rabbit doesn't seem to like the bedding.

Yeah - They have high sides so the animals can snuggle up against them. The one I have is really small though, so Barnaby is the only one that fits in it.
