Gah!!!
Some rabbit rescues are so ridiculous, I swear.
I'm trying to adopt Darwin a friend and the lady tells me there's a "No cage policy"!
Darwin's cage is huge!
Gah. People are crazy. He lives inside for God's sake and has run of the house most of the day.
Sheesh. Sorry for the rant, I had to get it out.

It can be dangerous for some rabbits to have the run of the house without supervision. What it he chews on your sofa and gets a blockage in his digestive system? Your cage looks ideal and the policy seems stupid! Good luck with the adoption.

I don't think they mean the rabbit has to be free-range. Some rescues only house rabbits in excercise pens.
But I could be wrong. I would just try a different rescue .

Oh that is just crazy! Oliver and Ophelia have a cage. I don't keep them in it and they are always getting into trouble. I have been very lucky they haven't gotten hurt. I have heard of places like this and you should try another recue or spca. That is where I got mine.
It drives me crazy when they complain that there are not enough homes and then they turn down everyone that is not exactly how they want them.
Don't be discouraged. Darwin's friend is just some where else.

Do you have their policy in writting? I'm curious to what they mean.
My rabbits don't live in cages, then live in runs/pens, but many of the rabbits in foster care with the organization i belong to do live in cages when their foster families are not home.

Well they only want the bunnies to live in pens no smaller than a 4x4.
Really though, Darwin's cage is probably the equivalent to that.
And when he's out I'm usually keeping an eye on him. He's never gotten hurt, though he has had a second's chew on a power cord. That got tacked up onto the wall. Haha.
The policy sucks though, there aren't many rabbit rescues in So. Cal.
Hopefully I can convince her... =/

i think they were just trying to make sure the rabbits found a good home and people who wouldnt be housing them in cramped cages...but instead something that was big enough bc the avg person my be ignorant( like for instance, most guinea pig people get cages in pet stores that are way too small)

Good luck Bree. I am not allowed to adopt rabbits from most rescue places either. My rabbits are kept outside in a large shelter with a free range area, but because many outdoor rabbits are kept in small hutches and neglected, I am not even allowed to adopt unsocialized death row rabbits!

The lady decided not to be ridiculous and is considering me for adopting the bunny.
I'll know in the next few days if I get her or not.
I'm crossing my fingers!

It is ridiculous...when I first got Akina I let her free roam (under-supervision) and she had a large guinea pig cage at the time, now has her own room. Plus that cage is BIG, you should be able to get the bun!!
