Question

growling, grinding of teeth....what does these warnings mean?


hi everyone....thumper my mini rex...is a very funny character, but when he growls i just pick him up and look at him in astonishment. and put him back down...is he warning me about something?....he also grinds his teeth, ive heard that when they grind their teeth they like something your doing but it also means that im doing something wrong...how can i tell which is good and which is bad....

When he grinds his teeth can you hear it pretty well? I know that's a weird question but generally if they are happy it'll be soft and you can't really hear anything (though all bunnies are different).

i can hear it sometimes...but i mostly feel it when i kiss him on his head.

My buns grind their teeth softly when they're really content, kind of like a cat purring.

I have heard of rabbits grinding their teeth when they're in pain as well. But if he's doing it softly when your petting him, its probably because he's happy.

The growling, on the other hand, is probably your rabbit telling you that he doesn't like what you're doing. If he growls when you pick him up he probably just doesn't like being picked up - not a lot of bunnies do like being picked up.

he does it when im holding his flip n toss carrot.....and before my boyfriend and i give him his bath(well when we put his shampoo on him).
